Wow!  An Amazing Puppetry Workshop!

On Sunday, April 22, I accompanied three of my children to church for a Puppet Workshop, led by our Youth Director, Ellen, and her father, Pastor Don Rothweiler, both certified puppeteers.  What a wonderful evening!  Learning about puppets and watching Ellen and her father in puppet action was amazing.  They gave life to puppets with stories, taught some principles of puppetry and then we watched as the youth and Ellen made their puppets sing and dance.  (I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time!  Check our church website for some photos of the evening.)

Principles of puppetry?  Yes – we learned three of them:
     1. See no ceiling
     2. Flip no lid
     3. Bite no words

Ask one of the following youth or adults in attendance to explain the principles:  Jill & Josh Boeschen, Adam, Eric, Lisa and Denise Friesth, Ryan Johanson, Allison Kane, Ellen Mortenson, Loryn & Sara Reed, Jerry Wylie.

I’m hoping that we will have more opportunities to learn about puppets and the art of storytelling!
