All are Welcome!*
When we say it,* we mean…
If you are seeking the grace, love and mercy of God,
You are welcome at Saint James Lutheran Church!
No matter your age, income, race, gender or ethnicity.
No matter your abilities, addictions, physical or mental health.
No matter your sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
No matter your marital or legal or financial status.
We welcome you no matter where you may be on your faith journey.
We welcome and include all because Jesus Christ welcomes and includes all.
Our unity is in the love of God made known in Jesus Christ.
You are welcome here!
For the past four months, we have been discussing this proposed statement. In November we asked where you were at in your deliberations. At that time an overwhelming majority of our members (94%) said that they liked the statement as written. In response to that affirmation, Council has decided to include a vote on the Welcome Statement on the agenda of our Annual Meeting on January 26, 2020.
I hope everyone will vote for this statement for the following reasons:
This statement is faithful to the God made known in Scripture.
This statement is faithful to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
This statement will help Council do the work you have assigned to them.
This statement will help our Pastor and Staff do the work you have assigned to them.
This statement will help our visitors, community, neighbors and members know that they are welcome at Saint James.
No matter how you intend to vote, I appreciate and respect your thoughtful deliberations on this. If you would like to discuss this statement further, please call me at your convenience.
I am asking you to vote for this Welcome Statement.
With Peace and Love,
January 7, 2020
